American Base Trails
Halfway through the Grenfell Heritage Trail, there is a marked turn-off, pointing to the former U.S. Military Base (overlooking a spectacular vista of Newfoundland coastal mountains and ocean scenery). The military site was originally designated due to it's superior radar vantage point over the Atlantic ocean. Allow 2-3 hours for return trip.

Bottom Brook Trail
Behind Hotel North is a system of well-groomed trails - which follow the harbour edge. A great place to take a short walk from one of our motels.

Cartier's View Trail
This trail leads to an amazing look-out over St. Anthony Bight Harbour - an immense harbour with amazing cliffs surrounding the harbour. This trail is easy - and takes about 30 minutes. A perfect spot for a picnic.

Iceberg Alley Trail
Follows along the tip of St. Anthony's Fishing Point Park (Atlantic Ocean). The trail starts at the lighthouse - and is mostly boardwalk (easy). Allow about 30 minutes. (Wheelchair accessible)

Grenfell Heritage Trail Loop (Tea House Trail)
From the stoplights, go just past the hospital building and turn into the last hospital entrance. At the top of the hill, turn left and this roadway will take you to the Grenfell House parking lot. The trail loop begins just behind the Grenfell house. This trail is a moderate workout. Allow approximately 90 minutes for this walk.

Lamage Point Trail
Park your car at the end of Lamage Point Road - or - follow this road as it turns to a gravel road (4-wheel drive is preferable). At the top of the hill is a cemetary - and starting point for the Lamage Point Trail. This trail is easy to walk - and highlights the vastness of St. Anthony Bight Harbour and surrounding mountains. Allow about 1 hour.

Santana Trail
The Santana Trail is for people in good physical condition (476 stairs to the top of a mountain). After climbing the stairs, follow the trail toward the huge antenna mast - see mesmerizing view of pristine Newfoundland coast. Once you are underneath the huge antenna tower, follow the gravel road back down to the village. Once back in town, follow the street back to the harbour road, and walk back to Fishing Point to complete the loop. Rated moderate to difficult. Allow at least 90 minutes.

Whale Watchers Trail
A series of boardwalks and short stairways leads to an amazing look-out over the Atlantic ocean, underneath the huge cliffs of Fishing Point (a "must see"). This trail is easy - and takes about 30 minutes.
